OntoLex and Onomasiological Ordering: Supporting Topical Thesauri

چکیده

The OntoLex vocabulary has been designed to capture lexicons and to add their lexicographical knowledge to ontologies in the Semantic Web. Although the specification of the vocabulary posits that OntoLex allows lexicons to be ordered onomasiologically, it does so for a very specific kind of onomasiological ordering only. As a consequence, the vocabulary is currently insufficient for capturing a large proportion of the existing topical thesauri. This paper demonstrates the current expressivity and this shortcoming of OntoLex through two case studies: The Historical Thesaurus of the Oxford English Dictionary and The Scots Thesaurus. In order for OntoLex to offer full support for topical thesauri and their ordering principles, this paper proposes the addition of a single property to the vocabulary: ontolex:isSenseIn. . . .

Towards Multilingual eLexicography by Means of Linked (Open) Data

In this short paper, we document the current state of work consisting in mapping various lexicographic resources onto the OntoLex model, which is an OWL and RDF(s) based representation format. This model has been designed in the context of a W3C Community Group effort for supporting the publication of linguistic data in the Linked (Open) Data cloud. The deployment of OntoLex is currently being ...

Proposing an OntoLex-MMoOn Alignment: Towards an Interconnection of two Linguistic Domain Models

This paper motivates and proposes to align the OntoLex and MMoOn Core models. It deals in particular with the ontolex and decomp modules and their potential as ontological foundation to represent the domain of morphological language data (MLD). It will be argued that ontolex and decomp provide only a basic modelling of the domain, which is not sufficient for representing fine-grained MLD, but s...

Thesaurus mapping: a challenge for ontology alignment?

Thesauri are hierarchical knowledge organization systems commonly used in libraries to categorize and index publications. While sometimes referred to as so-called lightweight ontologies [4], they actually fundamentally differ from ontologies in several aspects. Nevertheless, as thesauri are actively used, constantly maintained and improved, they offer an interesting background knowledge for sem...

Automatic Construction of the Knowledge Base of an Onomasiological Dictionary
